This post explains how to romanticize your life so you can feel more fulfilled.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO ROMANTICIZE YOUR LIFE?
Romanticizing your life means turning the mundane into a more fulfilling experience. Everything you do (your habits, activities, hobbies, work, etc.) can bring you bursts of joy when you add something extra to it to make it special.
BENEFITS OF ROMANTICIZING YOUR LIFE
Your mental health improves.
You spark your positive feelings, like happiness, gratefulness, and calmness.
You begin to appreciate the little things.
You continually seek out little things, or “glimmers” that give you bursts of joy. Feeling grateful for the little things in life will add up to feeling grateful for the bigger things.
You become more present.
When you do things with the intention of falling in love with your life, you become grounded and in the moment instead of worrying about the past or the future.
8 Ways to Romanticize Your Life
1. ENJOY A SLOW AND QUIET MORNING
Create a calm ambiance for waking up by using a sunrise alarm clock
The Hatch sunrise alarm clock wakes you up gently with calm sounds and gradual light increases.
*I’ve had a great experience with my Hatch! Instead of waking up anxious and worried, I feel more alert, calm, and ready for my day.
Make your bed to perfection
You already know the benefits of making your bed (accomplishing something right away, less tempted to crawl back into it, etc.). But now make it to perfection and appreciate the fact that you get to enjoy a slow & quiet morning.
Quick Tip: Make sure you want to make your bed in the morning.
Add decorative pillows — these are a great finishing touch.
Add a throw blanket — match it to different holidays/seasons!

Stretch, make a coffee or a nourishing breakfast, spend time with your pets.
Do anything that allows you to feel the joy and privilege of living another day.
If it seems impossible for you to have a slow and quiet morning…
Try waking up earlier than others (children, partner, roommate) even if it’s just ten minutes.
With headphones, listen to calm music or binaural beats to stay calm.
You are in more control than you think — find one activity that lets you start the day with joy.
2. COOK MEALS AT HOME
Make meal planning enjoyable
Don’t overcomplicate it — find easy recipes that are healthy and delicious. There are so many options out there. Search “easy and tasty meals” on Pinterest and a variety of options will come up (refine your search as you go).
Make a cute meal-planner on an app (like Notion) or on paper. Light a candle, put on your favorite show, diffuse essential oils — make it enjoyable!
Create an ambience while you cook
Wear an apron, listen to music, and light a candle while you cook.
Try new recipes/cook something a new way
Try a new recipe every week. Try a new food. Prepare your chicken a different way than you have before.
3. DECORATE YOUR SPACE
Your home should be your safe space. Decorations make your space feel like home.
Make an event out of decoration shopping
Put on a cute outfit, go buy items you love, then decorate with a friend.
Decorate seasonally and for the holidays.
Immerse yourself in the spirit of the season.
Redecorate spaces that you don’t love.
Make every space in your home one that feeds your positive energy.
4. ADD PLANTS TO YOUR HOME
Plants are a graceful addition to your home — they give you something to take care of, and makes your home more lively.
Take care of your plants with intention.
Water them knowing you’re aiding to their growth, pot them in cute pots, and talk to them so they grow happy and healthy.
Check on them regularly.
It’s motivating and fun to see your plants thrive! Take progress pictures every so often so you can see how much they’ve grown.
Make a plant tracker showing your plants and how to take care of them, including:
Origin
Family
Growing season
Average height
When to water; last watered date
Ideal soil mix
Ideal humidity levels
Ideal temperature
Ideal sunlight
How to propagate them
5. REORGANIZE YOUR SPACE
Reorganizing your space will give you something new to see and you’ll appreciate the space more.
Replace your couch with one that fits your home better or add new shelves on the walls. Even moving your TV to a different corner can make a big difference!
6. TAKE A BREAK FROM YOUR PHONE
We often miss what’s in front of us when we’re on our phones.
Being present in the moment will help you feel grateful for who you’re with and the experience you’re sharing with them.
You’ll learn more about yourself.
You can explore different activities or sit in silence and figure out what you want to do next in life.
You can tend to your own needs.
Sometimes we give more to others than ourselves — it’s easy to answer a phone call or message, but that takes away from YOUR needs at the moment.
7. DRINK SOMETHING FUN EVERY DAY
I’m a drink girl at my core — I always have my water bottle with me and enjoy coffee, matcha, or sparkling water throughout the day.
Quick tip:
Add your daily drink into your meal plan!
Use your favorite glass/mug:
I love clear glasses, cute straws, and fancy ice cubes. It just makes sense.
8. LISTEN TO PODCASTS
Podcasts changed my life for the better.
Before my friend suggested the podcast Unsolicited Advice with Ashley and Taryne I didn’t even know what a podcast was! And now, I haven’t missed a single episode in almost 5 years.
I love listening to podcasts when I’m doing mindless activities, like laundry, walking, and meal prepping.
